Roan best work is NOT Mr. Bean, Blackadder and his spook of the Dr. where the best, plus his show in Boston was superb.

So what is your opinion on Benny Hill?
He broke a lot of ground in British humor didn't he?

He really was the king of slapstick. Mind you I am more of a Monty Python fan, I thought BH was harmless fun (although I loved the end sequence, still do, its a classic). The reason why it registered with me, its because it shown in local television late at night, because of all the women in bikinis and underwear, years latter it seemed to me that it was at best innocent.

Yes, I enjoy Benny when it is on. Yes, it is innocent humor. Monty Python is also great fun!

I used to watch Benny Hill, Monty Python and Fawlty Towers when I was young (very young). My brother loved British humor. I like it now too.

A moose once bit my sister.

My favourite Rowan Atkinson series is "The thin blue line'. I love British humour. I think they understand irony better than anyone else.

The best Brit com show I have ever seen was Chef!, followed closely by Fawlty Towers. Keeping Up Appearances was also a favorite, since Mrs. Bucket reminded me of too many women I knew. Sadly, the PBS station in Tennessee (where I used to live) stopped showing them and the one here in Texas is stingy with Brit coms. I had only seen a few of the BlackAdder shows when the station abruptly stopped airing them; same for Benny Hill and Monty Python. I did get to enjoy a season or two of Goode Neighbors, which was cute, and another show that I can't remember the name of. It was set in a fitness center and run by a perpetually sunny clutz who wouldn't know what a brain was if he had had one in his ...

Ah, Mrs Bucket of Keeping Up Appearances - she of "riparian repast" fame. Fabulous!

That's awesome! I've never been able to track down the Shakespeare sketch! I've been a Black Adder fan since the late 80s.

You do realize of course that the bufoon Prince Regent in the third series (and Shakespeare in the Shakespeare sketch) is Hugh "Dr. House" Laurie, right?

You can rent Fawlty Towers episodes on Netflix.
