A great extension for Firefox is CustomizeGoogle, it adds an awesome auto complete feature to google.com that gives you a dropdown box with search suggestions as you type in your query. Not to mention, it also has features that can disable google ad's, and add quick links to other search engines on the google results page.

A definite must have for google users!

For me, it's right above \ which is to the left of the enter key.
