Jesus Christ doesn't "wave a magic wand". The Scriptures tell us that "all" sin against the holy and perfect Creator of the universe and mankind. There is *Someone* out there Who made all things and made them "good". Philosophers forever have argued whether man is basically good or is he flawed on the inside. According to the Bible, mankind is flawed from the inside and unable to be in the presence of his holy Creator. Jesus Christ was "made sin for us so that we might be made the righteousness of God". Our Creator made a way.... It makes no sense to someone who doesn't know the Scriptures. Haggard does; and so do other Christians. We do not excuse him; he will suffer the consequen...

I think the Mr. Haggardy's (and other's) problem was his Christian message of the definition of sin instead of the understanding of grace (included in your comment). Regarding the definition of sin, almost all Protestants now condone divorce as acceptable, although it was repeatly condemned by Jesus. The sin of homosexuality vs. the sin of divorce; it is so much more easier and more convenient to focus on sins of which we are not known to be guilty.
