瑞士的電腦科學家,根據長達15年有關老鼠大腦皮質層的神經型態、基因表現、離子通道、神經鍵結和神經生理記錄的實驗資料,宣稱已在去年完成用電腦模擬大腦皮質層一萬個神經元及3千萬個連結,並預計在三年內完成整個哺乳類大腦的模型,人類的大腦則可在下一世紀完成。此模型可用於實驗、測試假說、及分析藥物反應,較實際大腦組織實驗更有效率。MIT的電腦神經科學研究人員指出此模型將會對神經科學產生重大的衝擊。
