The devil can't use force, only suggestion.
We are constantly faced with choices between , right and wrong, good and evil, red and blue apples and oranges. Not accepting responsibility for these choices, is a denial of free will. Choice and responsibility go hand in hand. There are very few absolutes.
Choice often involves a comparison between options, no one else can load our balance for us.
John F Kennedy once said :
"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."
He did not mean so much the 'enemy.' That leads to imprisonment behind walls of fear.
He meant watch the watchers, and more importantly we must watch ourselves.
Then there's the garden of eden. Whether it is history, or parable.
