Wowzers! Though it doesn't really make laptops obsolete, exactly. I don't think you can use one of these things in a jungle where there are no flat surfaces, or in a car, or on a plane. Still, very cool. Actually, it looks like a pure Sci-Fi creation, and it's also quite unusable in real-life: Taking 5 pens isn't that practical; The screen will probably be distorted on almost every non-commercial vertical surface; The laser-keyboard is known to be completely unable to distinguish the clicking-motion of your fingers from the simple motion of just moving them over the keys; and so on. musichunter85, the technology isn't quite there yet, but once all the bugs you mention are worked out, this is the computer of the future like it or not... it will be computer/tv/cellular device/etc... all in your pocket... it is exciting to me, and I am usually skeptical about new technology. i don't find it that implausible at all. considerations of course would be battery life but if you're talking about led projection that might be one virtue, and also flash memory vs hard disk (albeit also limited, but we're talking about a pen here). given that we have cell phones more powerful than desktop computers once were not that long ago this is very real. maybe the rest of you are too young to know! We're just looking through a crack. There are so many threads being followed, that ideas will keep all kinds of development expanding. A potentially infinite range of possibilities being filtered through cyber selection where the most practical advances, and tools that are specific for each job are being refined. Natural Selection travelled at the speed of sound. Technology seems to be developing closer to the speed of light. We want a light portable system with potentially limitless power, and memory, with the capacity to interact with any system in the internet, from anywhere in the world, with absolute security. The target can be the biggest problem, but some targets can be the most effic... that sure is geek gear |
