I wonder just how many people are involved in this situation. The police who arrested her, the people who'll bring her food / water, the people who'll come to visit her, the children whose education will be interrupted, the stress and worry for all those concerned. Now I wont even pretend to comprehend the offense taken by those parents who felt it necessary to report this teacher, but what I do understand is that this situation will affect many people (even me writing this). I'm not religious, and have the same opinion of Christians, Muslims, Jews and all others regardless of faith. I wonder just how many people are involved in this situation. The police who arrested her, the people who'll bring her food / water, the people who'll come to visit her, the children whose education will be interrupted, the stress and worry for all those concerned. Now I wont even pretend to comprehend the offense taken by those parents who felt it necessary to report this teacher, but what I do understand is that this situation will affect many people (even me writing this). I'm not religious, and have the same opinion of Christians, Muslims, Jews and all others regardless of faith. You see, Clippers, what I cannot get my head around, is that these people have been offended by the naming of a child's toy. Yet they are quite prepared to go to extreme lengths (my opinion of extreme), to meet out some punishment for this act. I know subjects like this occur frequently on Clipmarks, and I rarely, if ever, put my 2 cents in, generally because I don't care to get into an argument about something I know little about or have any inclination to. On this instance I feel I had to point this out:
No matter what your religious views, or how you care to express them, one thing is certain. This action will affect this woman deeply, perhaps as deeply as those who feel strongly enough to phone the police. It will affect her family, their families, the school she teaches in and so many others. I'm completely in favour of freedom of expression, but what about freedom from others expression? We all need to be aware how our actions, thoughts and beliefs affect others, because without understanding, compassion and forgiveness our world will fill up with resentment, stereotype, hate and bigotry.
