So, does this timetable mean the Pentagon wants the terr'ists to win or does it make them Nazi appeasers, like Neville Chamberlain? I get my GOP talking points mixed up.

Either way, it's 180 degrees away from what Bush and McCain have been saying.

Or is it "surrender?" Or "cut and run?"

The clear difference is that Obama's plan for withdrawing troops was political, arbitrary and based on the fact that he is ill-equipped and lacks the judgement to lead the military. His plans are based on the lie that the surge is failing and the war is lost. This Pentagon Report is based on expert assessment and in line with what Bush said he was going to do - listen to the commanders in the field and determine a course of action based on that. This is not a timeline. This is not cutting and running. This is the exit strategy outlined wihtin 1 month of the fall of Baghadad. As Iraqi forces stand up, American forces will stand down. This is victory. This is not defeat.

LOL! Let me see if I've got this straight; when the Pentagon says we should draw down forces on a prescheduled basis, that's not a timetable for withdrawal -- despite the fact that it's timetable spelling out when we should withdraw.

Meanwhile, when Obama suggests the very same thing, that's "cutting and running."

Tell me, does this merry-go-round of circular and strangely self-contradicting reasoning require pratice or do you just take to it naturally?

Right, as I understand the theory: If Obama does it, it's ignorant. If Bush does it, it's brilliant.

That evades the fact that Bush has said for years that he would never support a timeline for withdrawal because it would tip off our enemies to our plans. Drawing down to 50k by a publicized time ("spring of 2009") - thus telling our enemies our plans - is exactly what Bush has insisted we would never do.
