the super rich accumulate so much money either because they're really smart, or really stupid.

if they're smart, they'll be like bill gates who created the Gates Foundation to help the underprivileged in some way or another, or Bono, who did something helpful in Africa, or that other computer dude, who gave his entire 28 some billion dollar fortune to the Gates foundation. don't get mad at me about the specifics, i didn't have time to research it all.

if they're stupid, they'll end up like paris hilton (anorexic, obsessed with being "popular"), britney spears (bald with two kids, basically famous white trash), or other stupid famous people.

If it isn’t to spend, to give to their children, or to give to charity, then why do the rich save so much? Professor Carroll says maybe they love money, not for what it can buy but just for its own sake. Perhaps they get something different from having money — clout, power, the ability to dominate an industry. Or perhaps these are just competitive people who care about their position compared with other people on the list.

They accumulate more so they can lord it over the other families who have less — a bit like having enough nuclear weapons to blow up the world several times but making more to stay ahead of the other guy.

Many observers who say
that they cannot understand how anyone can be worth $100 million a year
do not realize that it is not necessary that they understand it, since
it is not their money.

Why someone who makes $30 million a week just in interest would want even more is a fascinating topic, and given the power of these people an important one.
But, hey, who needs curiosity when somewhere on the internet there is dumb soundbite for every question?

Its the inversion of the deal. Simple like that. Everything has its counterpart, no? Further more the fact that it must be terifficly depressing, being that much disconnected to the way money comes to you, I think this is relative. Maybe its just a workoholic who can't stop working at all! Could you? Me not!

Best greetings, Hendrik(s)
