All this talk of socialism seems like crap to me. We have a welfare system, a medicare system, free schools, subsidised childcare etc and both our major parties are right of centre and conservative.
{The rights were won during times when the Labour Party was not so far to the right, but never socialist (just a few pseudo socialists floating around)}

The fact that John McCain can call Obama's ideas socialism shows just how far to the right McCain is. Same as Bush.

McCain can say he's not another Bush all he wants, but his actions and policies say otherwise.

Obama is right.

Imagine an apple tree. (the economy) If you just spray water on the top leaves (the rich), the tree will eventually wither and die. If you water the roots (the people), the tree grows strong and bears many fruits.

Are you hence a socialist gardener, for watering the roots? Or just a smart gardener. .

Obama is right.

If it all wasn't so damaging it would be funny.

Maybe in five days it will be funny.

This socialist charge is easily shown to most untrue.

Obama has been talking about making the tax system fair, about getting rid of the unfair tax advantages and tax breaks that Bush gave to the SuperRich and Wealthy Corporations (like Exxon).

He's also talking about giving tax breaks to the Middle Classes and poor.

But, indeed, if you're a heartless millionaire and won't even give poor folks the crumbs off your table, than McCain's your only man.

Obama is talking about policies of "Progressiv...

I wish half the people who talk about this had my degree in political science. This is sounding a lot like the McCarthianism witch hunt of the 50's.Capitalism unchecked becomes Imperialism and in case you missed it, The French and Russian Revolutions happened for a reason.Instead of being afraid of socialism,check out Canada and Scandinavia which are very much free enterprise but don't let people starve either.
