teajay1111, I think every normal Mom would say this... and it's a good statement, but if someone's coming out to harm you and you sit still and keep saying this saying... you know what'll happen. You can use this saying when dealing with rational, coherent and decent people, people who appreciate that they've done something wrong and you taking a higher road simply avoid additional confrontation and escalation and they appreciate you doing so in return, hopefully learning from the experience and not offending you again. They don't care about you, your Mother or your morals... if you're an American... or better yet - if you're not a muslim - you deserve nothing but death... period. You can see that even if you're even a muslim, but not the 'right' kind of muslim, as we see in Iraq daily - you also deserve nothing better than death.

So, I think we shouldn't forget what our Mothers had taught us, but we should also look at things realistically and in context. I'll bet your Mother never asked you to put on a bomb and go blow up some people with yourself being one of them? Well, their mothers do, although it still baffles me how one could hate so much as to willingly send their own child to die.

That's a nice sentiment there, dstruve, unfortunately, if one just sits idly with hope - it doesn't happen like that. We shouldn't have to focus on loved ones to win... but we should win for the sake of our loved ones. hitler certainly had enough hate and he lost in the end, just as your statement says... but look how many tens of millions had to die before he took those pills finally and put himself out of everyone's misery.
