It seems it's gonna get uglier when you consider Ahmadinejad's latest statements on oil prices. The guy wants more...

I have been watching this in real-time on the stock system. Really sucks. It is amazing how it makes other things move and drop.
Consider this: As this causes gas prices to incline, airfare, trucking, etc. costs go up - so food distribution costs go up and thus food supply, etc.
The question is how fast the others rise.....
All this because we are slaves to oil as our fuel.......

*sigh* What kills me is that this was seen coming YEARS ago and while we've made some steps, overall, alternative fuels have been squashed by the big oil conglomerates.

ok, i have to admit, i drive one of the most gas guzzling vehicles there is, a suburban. probably the only thing worse would be a hummer. the problem is that I need something that can haul 8ft boards and/or 5 children around. we did the mini van thing and the wife hated it. anyone know if there is an suv that can do that and get better gas mileage than a suburban?

There problem isn't with the fact that we need/use oil, is where we get it and a lack of real alternatives.

Dj... We own a mini-van and it's no gem on gas milage either. We average 17-19mpg with it when I get 18-22 with my LS1 powered Firebird if I keep my foot out of the injectors.

Just because something has a 6 cylinder doesn't make it more "green" so to speak. But yea, that Burban has to be horrible around town.

bbw, now that you mention it, i guess my van didn't get a whole lot better mileage. I wonder if anyone makes a hybrid min van yet. I don't think i've heard of one...

I wish they would make a big version of the hybrid ford escape. I sure do love the suburban though, with the exception of the gas intake. When my van died, I hauled it home on a car hauler with the suburban. I wonder if the hybrid's can/will ever be able to do that...

If you voted Bush- don't whine about mileage or gas prices.
I have to agree with you there Amaruca.
