Amanda, my sentiments exactly. Sad to say, but the nicest places can have them. Thnk about how often a woman's purse is on the ground even! Had some bites so thought I'd look them up when a doctor told me there was a full-page article in the LA Times about them making much more of a comeback into the U.S. than most docs are willing to admit, or know anything about treating them, cuz they don't know enough about them here.

Indeed...my sister transported some presumably from a motel she stayed at.

Rustee? About your sister....can you tell me if she got bit? Did the little gross suckers get into her home? Very interested!! Thanks!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure she did at some point, though I don't know if she noticed at the motel or when. But I know they did make it into her place somehow.
She lives in Chicago btw, and the motel was somewhere between here and there. Sorry, I don't know much specifics...she only briefly mentioned it over the holidays.

Rustee,
A very belated thanks for the answer to my question!! I just now saw it. I am still dealing with a 'springtail' infestation. And I have bites. But 6 Dermatologists could not find what it was that kept causing lesions. I still deal with it, but we have narrowed down where they are the most...it took 2 inside sprays to get the tiny jumping suckers under control, the worst part is they have so many stages, and in color range from pure white to black. YUK!!! I just have to be a great housekeeper between maid visits. Also, clean air filters are a MUST, docs say those with allergies should change them once a month, dirty or not. Felt good to know a new one was in there, and on we...

After this clip way back then, I asked her about it, and it turns out I was mistaken...the motel room was in Florida (she travels alot). Not that it's that important. Nowadays, they could be anywhere....dun-dun-DUN!

Ewww, and I also fairly recently saw an investigative piece where they looked at refurbished mattresses...yep, they are often sold with 'em. Shudder.
