and if the laser is infrared, the beam would not be seen, or traceable, without infared goggles. the victim may not even feel his eyes being burned (and therefore have the blink reflex) until he can't see... scary indeed.

a CO2 laser, used for industrial welding and cutting, could slice a person in half! yikes! thankfully this kind would be amoung the chemical lasers mentioned above, and not easily mobilized.

i wonder if there will be any Geneva Convention guidelins set about these weapons?

not that we (the U.S.) have been paying any attention to the geneva convention....
