"I'm not doing this for naught" says "I expect to get something for myself out of all this work I'm doing and I'm not considering anyone else". I hope she does indeed try to become the new head of the Republican Party; it would mean the death of the Nixon-Reagan coalition. Libertarians, moderates, and intellectuals would flee the party, leaving the Republican brand to be carried by white cultural conservatives from the South.
