David M Ewalt says: Click through to google's zeitgeist pages -- it's interesting to compare the search terms in different countries, and before/after news events. They're not true stats anymore. When the Net was really getting off the ground, the stats would be made public. The top searches for at least 1 through 50 of 100, before tapering off were sex related searches! Since sex so easily dominated the list, they began to categorize the searches to eliminate what people really searched for. Since then, it's been filtered and categorized with sex eliminated completely. And just a side note: most of the advances to the Web, from design to script-writing were from the sex sites. My guess is that true unfiltered brute tally would continue to show the same thing. |
