It's been well known that owning a gun increases the danger level in your home, with the owner and/or his loved ones more likely to be hurt or killed by the gun than saved by it. Add to this fact that the whole idea that guns protect you from danger is a logical non-starter. Then you add the fact that the presences of guns in any situation escalates the danger factor for everyone involved. The gun owners my try to pull out macho slogans that the NRA has hammered into their brains, but the true psychology behind gun ownership is that the gun owners see themselves as victims, and they own a gun to hide behind. Private gun ownership is the very definition of cowardice.
