Maybe , maybe not, but one thing is for sure , the public hears so many of these kinds of stories, some of which are totally discredited later on, that the majority of people simply do not give them much credence any more.

Of course it is clear that doing things like drinking to "excess" is probably pretty bad for you, but at the same time there are probably many thousands of people around who have taken wine on a daily basis with their meals and have suffered no ill effect.

Am sure you are right. The vast majority of the public can drink a lot more than this over time and suffer no significant damage. However, this is not a public health warning but one human being's story, only one real human being who would have agreed with us - until it happened. I'm not trying to scaremonger, but just to make a small contribution to people's considerations if they want to know. Most people, I am sure you are right, are quite happy to take a 'maybe, maybe not' approach to this. It is a personal, not a public, decision.

may be bad for liver but good for heart.. the "French paradox." .. is that the French eat almost four times more butter and three times more lard-and have higher cholesterol levels and blood pressures-than do Americans. Yet the French are 2.5 times less likely than Americans to die of heart disease...French consumption of red wine protects against coronary heart disease, apparently by lowering cholesterol levels or preventing abnormal blood clots"
..i'd like to believe this!!! for the sake of my nightly pinot-noir.
