She filed for the Democratic primary in May, joining an already crowded field of candidates, including Indiana House Representatives David Orentlicher and Carolene Mays, along with Indianapolis City-County Councilman Andre Carson.

Williams describes herself as a board-certified chaplain, ordained minister and motivational speaker who currently serves as staff chaplain at Methodist Hospital.</DIV><BR /><DIV>Other Democrats in the race are state Reps. David Orentlicher and Carolene Mays, both from Indianapolis, and Indianapolis City-County Councilman Andre D. Carson, grandson of U.S. Rep. Julia Carson, the woman who held the seat for more than a decade. Julia Carson died of cancer Dec. 15. </DIV><BR /><DIV>"Indiana needs someone who will be a 'voice for the voiceless,'" Williams said in a news release.
