With silkworms, they kill the worm to get the silk. I imagine it is the same with the spiders. A friend won't let me forget that fact.

With silkworms, they kill the worm to get the silk. I imagine it is the same with the spiders.

The article points out that the spiders are "silked" and then released to the wild to regenerate their silk.
