Historically, there was a very clear distinction made between "the God of the Bible, the Christian God" and "Nature's God." The two were never thought of as the same. In fact, they were antithetical to one another. Today, Christian's claim the Founders of our nation referred to the "Christian God" in their writings, they did not. From the Constitution: "When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them..." Notice, it is not "powers from God" but instead "the ... I think you are parsing for the need to believe. That is fine. There really isn't much to disagree with in your comment, from a practical sense. I would just object that the comment, Nature is the only deity here.is a leap of faith on your part and does not really follow what the words imply. Dualism is more of a modern point of view which was promulgated by the followers of Descartes. Dualism is not new. It's a concept that existed before monotheism became *the* way to worship. Raven |
