I Hate governments. Taking away my right to a free life in which I should be able to do to my body whatever i wish to do to my body. One of the many freedoms taken away from all of us.

When I was Kid, I had learned from people, marijuana was something like demoniac, and its not. It is just a minor drug. I got try it, to know about it.

Just because pot is natural, doesn't make it a good drug. I smoked it for 30 years. I'll make it short...it ruined my ability to be a good mother. Don't kid yourself.

There is no such thing as a safe drug. No doctor will give an absolute guarantee, be it illegal, recreational, pharmaceutical, or prescription, as side effects can effect every one in a different way according to their metabolism and genes. Nothing should ever be taken blindly.
While the production of hemp fiber is downplayed as a side issue. It is on of the fastest growing, strongest natural fibers, that could reduce our carbon footprint.
As a drug it is going to some effect people adversely, but the grounds on which it is made illegal are both contradictory, considering the way some other 'harmful' products are marketed by the government, and misleading, as they will give unproven 'findin...

Smoking is not the healthiest way to ingest marijuana.
You never know what you are buying anymore.

Marijuana has healing properties, as do many other plants and herbs.
It can be abused just like many legal substances.
What I am getting at -- Forget Reefer Madness -- end the proabition on weed & put it back on alcohol (which is much more destructive).

Yes I do agree alcohol is more destructive. Any drug in excess can harm. We are all better for not using drugs. They are crutches. Even coffee.

People can be fooled into thinking pharmaceuticals are okay to use. Unless you have a life threatening disease, suck it up and live healthy.

Medical MJ is gaining ground. We need the FedGov't out of our personal business. Alcohol is far more damaging, and it is not regulated in anyway.

People who are in pain and need the meds should have access to it.

Whether Cannabis is good or not dosent matter anyway. The same can be said for alcohol and other LEGAL substances people take. I consider alcohol worse than cannabis simply from my own experience. Drinking also seriously harms the body when done irresponsibally as do many other legal substances. Natrual products grown from the earth should not be made illegal because of freedom of choice to do these substances. Everyone in the world should have thier own right to do as they wish to thier own bodies, as long as they are well informed of any risk's and potential side effects. It shouldn't be a government deciding what u can and cannot take.
Drinking alchol i found myself waking up in the morn...

A possible way to take cannabis dealers off the street would be to legalise it and make it cheapish, make it still illegal to deal out with harsher punishment. Growing only 1 plant per household (at least u know what your taking). Legalising it would turn less people to the streets to buy it. Other certain bans should be no smoking at work or pubs or the street. It should have it's own cafe's and be allowed for home use. The thing is people who couldnt afford it could grow it. It shouldn't really be sold any as it is a natrual plant that can be very easily grown.

I truely hear what you are saying. I just believe the benefit from the drug is debatable. I would say, I would rather it be legal than alcohol. However it is just the lesser of the 2 evils as far as getting high. I live in Colorado where is is legal for medicinal use. If it can make a terminally ill patient suffer less, I am all for it. California doctors are going overboard though, perscribing it to anyone Joe for any little reason. Therefore we have the debate.

Societies from the dawn of mankind have been using drugs for psychotropic purposes, to good, bad, and indifferent outcomes. The fact that we can't wrap our heads around that fact beyond liquor is stupendously ridiculous.

KK makes a very good point regarding the quality issue, one which is overlooked by head-in-the-sand regulation which cannot recognize that in spite of illegality, consumption continues. Frankly, I think it is a culpable failure of the FDA to have not addressed this point from that perspective, and of the Congress to overlook the taxation stream it would generate.

I think another reason for making pot illegal was to bust the 'hippie movement,' associated with opposition to war, staring big time with the massive clashes of the Vietnam War opposition.

I think a nation that pretends to care about health issues of drugs should also be looking at it's own legal policies that allow for the promotion of booze, cigarettes and pharmaceuticals on TV to the Max.

At one time, we know, the nation had a policy of Prohibition; it didn't work. But now this policy of massive advertising ---the extreme opposite of Prohibition -- also is not working; it is doing great harm.

All those here (and everywhere) who care about the "drug problem," should look at the Big Pic...

Cannabis is an older persons drug. It gives relief from aches and pains, encourages appetite and can put a smile on your face.
Its use has more harmful side effects with young smokers looking for a quick lift or whatever.
Governments would legalize the "natural" cannabis (low grade - not the strains that the UN is worried about) if it could raise taxes effectively, as they did with tobacco.
