The images from the Hubble telescope until now have been in a format that could be only used by astronomers. NASA, ans ESA, have developed a plugin for Adobe Photoshop (which can be used with some other imaging programs) which can allow home users to create their own images from Hubble data using the FITS(Flexible Image Transport Service.
The plugin is known as the FITS Liberator.
