True from many perspectives.
Kindness has a positive effect on our body: lower pulse and brain activity, higher level of serotonin, relaxation of muscles and arteries etc. Long time stress damages the body and narrows our mind. If a healthy mind needs a healthy body, then kindness is a cheap way to stay fit both physically and mentally.

If we believe kindness to be a virtue, than every time we experience kindness would prove our belief to be valid and supported. Which also positively affects our general feeling of justice and progress.

Kindness can also be considered as a act of consciousness, opposed to thoughtless behavior or indifference. Acting mean would also be a deliberate choice. B...

I wonder. Is it good when idiocy prevails to the point that environmentalism kills millions in Africa because of DDT lunacy? I suggest that when these ideas are proffered the same people who proffer a potential "population bomb" that they may be being something other than nice. What about the fact that abstinence education has been shown to decrease AIDS in Africa, and the proliferation of condoms has no effect? What about the war on poverty that has created more people in ideological chains than ever existed during the materialist program of slavery?

It is better to be good than happy. If being good means being indifferent, then that is bad. Being good means dividing because if the bad co...

Well I don't wanna be nice all day, that would kill me... maybe not, but I would hate myself. That's not being nice... Hey, that makes it ok again?... Nice... no! but.... there you go.

Psychologists and neuroscientists are exploring how to increase people's capacity for empathy and compassion, with two ongoing studies claiming that meditation not only increases compassionate feelings but also improves physical and emotional health.
pretty good reason to adopt some kind of meditation discipline I'd say.....

@Toad,

Our goodness is measured by how we treat one another. It's not that difficult for other's to recognize

Oh, that is so true. And don't give us any bull crap about how you help people. You have no gratitude. PERIOD. You can always tell those who help others. Their gratitude is endless. No, You would rather make jokes about George Bush dying in a terrorist attack, call people who serve our country white trash, block others who disagree with you simply for disagreeing with you and pretend that you are something other than you are.

Our measure is not taken by how we treat our peers,but how we treat the least among us.

It's amazing what happens when you thank someone for being kind. I have dealt with many people who have been kind to me or others without recognizing it. Thanking them for it makes them aware and gives them the appreciation they deserve.
