mona says: great archive of sound bytes in the English language read out by native speakers of a huge variety of languages! far, far too many to clip. well worth a visit and a few clicks. This is great. But under the Zulu category they state a Zulu from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Trouble is, Zulus don't come from Zimbabwe. They come from KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The English accent though is not dissimilar to that of Zulus speaking English in KZN. Good stuff and a good clip, Mona. under the Zulu category they state a Zulu from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.I noticed some incongruities like that as well. Turns out, they ask the speakers who upload their soundbytes to state their place of birth. Which of course is not necessarily the place of their mother tongue. Aha, okay. Thanks for the clarification. I'd love to find something like this highlighting the various British English accents as they are so varied and fascinating to listen to. if you're interested in UK phonological variations, this is a nice place to start.... i'll try to find something that offers more of a direct comparison of the regional variations for you, michellezm. 10x for a sound clip .... )) Fabulous! Thanks Mona Oh WOW! Great clip Mona. Thank you very much. |
