Antara says: From Moonbattery.com: Kerry Emanuel of MIT used to get his name in the papers by claiming that global warming caused Katrina. His opportunistic findings were eagerly seized upon by the deranged Robert Kennedy Jr., who tried to spin them as proof that George W. Bush caused the hurricane. In an attempt to retain some credibility, Emanuel is now backing away from his hysterical claim that global warming will cause a plague of hurricanes. Now he says there will be a reduction in the number of hurricanes over the next two centuries. I'm so confused now...plague or no plague...? I strongly recommend reading Jared Diamond's book , Collapse. He is able to explain how local climate, and more importantly, local environmental change, is the downfall of cultures for hundreds of 1000s of years of human history. You mean the climate used to change back before the invention of the SUV? In my travels around the world I continually encounter remains of cities that have been abandoned for no apparent reason, which were thriving in their times. Indeed, in most cases, rivers dry up., harbors silt up, agriculture fails, dust storms ensue, etc. In other words, climate has been changing throughout the history of the planet and will continue to do so. And yes, most of this was long before automobiles and industry. In short, climate will change, and we are not causing it, and there is nothing we can do about it. Just enjoy the ride... |
