Here's link to the full article Kin Recognition in an Annual Plants Aaaaiiiiiish! I've got two lettuces in my fridge - they could be sisters! I feel sick at the thought of eating one of them. Imbuing them with human emotions makes me feel like a cannibal. Dudley seemingly needs to get a (human) life! Roots competing for space does not mean:that "the study shows plants are capable of complex social behaviours such as altruism towards relatives" (Gag!Pashaw!) And, perhaps his idea that "Like humans, the most interesting behaviours occur beneath the surface"refers only to roots, which is poor tongue-in-cheek/punning.) Argghh! What passes for "science" these days! Deliver us!)Don't waste our time on non-replicable experiments with non-sensical conclusions and inferences posted as "news". |
