Silkweaver says: It looks like an odd experiment in genetic engineering carried out many millenia in the past. Cute animal though... Robin Williams was rights: God got stoned that day. Wow. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. We always knew they were special. One beautiful animal finding things hard, like so many. The platypus' friend, the echidna, is also an egg laying mammal. It seems to me that I've read that though they are cute they can be very vicious. I believe they have a poisonous barb - which makes them even more unusual. Nature is wonderful in her gifts. This simply looks like evolution gone weird, if one can say something like this about evolution, especially considering us humans... I wonder: If the platypus makes use of so many different genomes, and evolution is survival of the fittest, then why aren't more critters LIKE the platypus? Why the diversity? Why haven't more animals developed better defenses? Why are humans still so frail? Maybe God does have a reason. And reason... should it have a God? |
