Antisemitism is a unique thing to track on a world-wide scale. I've never heard of anti-<any other ethnic group>-ism discussed this way on a world wide scale. Sure sometimes you hear about 2 neighboring groups hating each other, but that's nothing like antisemitism. Kind of makes me want to double check other Biblical prophecies.. I think we're seeing/reading a lot more of it in our own Media. Just as through the centuries there didn't appear to be any logical reasoning behind it other than cultural differences, jealousies, separatism and the like...so it is now. The venom directed towards the state of Israel is just a continuation of it's history; the issues involving the "Palestinians" are just the latest excuses. Can't agree that all criticism of state of Israel is antisemitic, nor even most of it. Some is, that's true. But remember that many of the strongest critics are Jewish. The Jewish critics of Israel are rare, though loud and promoted within the media for the purpose of *selling* the controversy. I wasn't intending to mean that criticism of the "state" and it's leaders' decisions were necessarily equal to antisemitism. I think most know the difference. @jatfla. I think we agree on much. I particularly agree on a generalised disdain for mass media as source of people's world view. I have clipped a thing on Jews against Israel not to be yahoo antagonistic or oppose any particular point of view, but hopefully to offer a springboard for people to explore the history and myriad complexities of different viewpoints on Israel. As jatfla pointed out - this isn't about pro/con Israel, it's about anti-semitism. As for 'different viewpoints' - you know what they say about 'opinions'... |
