Sadly, Mickey D has decided to permit a homophobic hate group dictate their corporate policies. Giving into these boycotts does nothing but encourage groups, such as this one, to continue to strong-arm major businesses to discriminate against gays and lesbians. I am hoping my GLBT friends will refuse to do any business with McDonalds.

Homophobia hurts everyone Zasel. I have to admit that it has affected me to the point that I won't give my straight female friends a hug when they desperately need one because I'm afraid of making them feel uncomfortable, and that's just plain sad.
These corporations have to take the high road and refuse to discriminate because their silence on the matter is implied consent.

Deb, I agree with Mona. Please do not deprive your "straight" friends the touch of your warmth and compassion. I am assuming that if you consider them friends, they already know about your bi-sexuality and are not troubled by it. But if any of them should prove to be uncomfortable with a hug, it is their problem, not yours. Do not let other people's ignorance change who YOU are.

One, I will not eat at MacDonald's for many reasons and now I have another one! and two, I am not a hugger, or a huggee (?) type person but I agree with the group here who say if someone needs a hug, give em one regardless..most people know your preference right, so, go ahead, I say. But, one word of caution, just as a non huggee type..ask before you hug..I hate it when people assume I 'need' a good hug when really I would like perhaps empathy or even sympathy, but not always to be touched, so if you ask, do you need a hug, and you get a teary nod, well you're good to go!
