In addition, be WARY of 'palliative care' for a loved one at end stages of life - what YOU mean by palliative and what THEY mean by it are two very different things. THIS IS A FLAT OUT LIE! Had I not been present during the 'family meeting with staff,' my sister would have been starved to death. I was there - I spoke up, and when they said 'withhold everything,' I immediately said, EVERYTHING BUT FOOD AND WATER, THAT IS! They immediately backed off in the face of my Catholic determination. Their plan, which occurrs continuously in 'care facilities,' is to load the patient with pain meds to the point that they are too numb to react and suffer excruciatingly in their last days. FOOD AND WATER ARE NOT TREATMENT - THEY ARE THE SIMPLE BASICS OF COMFORT - even when the person can no longer swallow food, one always offers water, in small sips, with a straw, or a small spoon, whichever works.

My sister, dying of pancreatic cancer, died peacefully. I or another sister were with her every day, she received Extreme Unction, and died in our Holy Faith. Even when she could no longer speak, she pulled my hand towards her mouth, indicating water, which at the end I gave her with small half teaspoons, and finally a clean white washcloth soaked in cool water, which she clamped her jaws down on! My best friend and I were with her at her death, prayed the Rosary, to which my dying sister was faithful all her life, and whispering into her ear the Act of Contrition, the Act of Love in which one forgives 'from my heart all who have injured me and ask pardon of all whom I have injured,' just as Christ says we must if we are to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Most persons today could not care less about a Catholic dying a happy death. These are the ones lost in the Modernist Church or become Protestants,etc. and who I'd bet have ALL signed those 'living wills,' Another trap - I got a doctor to admit in front of a whole room full of olde...
