A 10 year old boy, whom I taught Italian to, when asked what he liked most about Italy, answered, " The red and green traffic lights! In my village we didn't have them and my best friend was run over by a motor car. I wouldn't have lost that friend if we had traffic lights....."
Little does he know... In Italy, we may have traffic lights, but we also have drunken drivers....
I only mentioned this episode because the trouble with Chinese motorization is that the cars aren't only in the big cities they've invaded the countryside as well... where the necessary infrastructures have not been updated.... Cars in fact have only become available to ordinary city-dwellers over the last five or six y...

Cars in fact have only become available to ordinary city-dwellers over the last five or six years and they were so busy investing in things like motor-ways and roads for the cities, there wasn't much left for the rural areas... That's progress for you see???
