I don't get it... Obama made a groaner if a joke and people are complaining that it didn't get enough coverage?

So the joke wasn't all that funny, but we're interviewing a President, not a comedian.

It wasn't a joke.

It was about as much a joke as niggardly is a racial slur.

When it was on air [at least the channel I watched] it was provided as an example of the long hours the candidates had put in and was attributed to sleep deprivation. Obama was referring to having visited all the contiguous states except one, which would make 47 out of 48. It's very easy to see the slip of the tongue. That's why Obama referred this time of the campaign to silly season.

Obviously the resident right wingers have very little else to comment on as the latest poll showed Obama up 51% to 44% against McCain [who has to use Lieberman at his side to be told the correct answers].

As if 10,000 Burmese deaths from the cyclone isn't bad
enough, Obama stated there had been 100,000,000
deaths

Said on the same day as the first misquote on states attributed to sleep deprivation.

You all are really reaching these days aren't you.

I noticed the Burma reference came from a conservative blogger, Tony Phyrillas, whose biography lists him as a Greek-American. I thought conservatives didn't use any other ethnicity when referring to their Americanism?

Bobby just reinforces the liberal view and the view of the media. If a conservative makes a mistake it is because conservatives are stupid and that mistake must be broadcast as much as possible to disqualify that person from holding office. But when a liberal makes a mistake, there is always some other reason for it and it is no big deal. Seems Obama is becoming the candidate for excuses instead of for change though.

yes, you're completely right, obama has no idea how many states there are, and quayle was a misunderstood genius.

Thanks for reinforcing that liberal mindset. Maybe if you could get beyond your own biases you could simply look at them as mistakes. People who are in the public spotlight a lot will make mistakes. The big question here is why the media treats those mistakes differently based on party affiliation, and the only logical answer is that they are as biased as people like you.

There was no evidence that Quayle had been on the campaign trail prior to chastising the grade schooler for his misspelling. As far as anyone knows he got a solid 8 hours.

It is a shame that the show are you smarter than a 5th grader was not around during Quayle's VP stint. It would have been the highest rated show of the season if he were to be on it.

As I said before there isn't much positive for conservatives and republicans especially to hang there hats on these days. Nonsense is a good diversion for them while there getting slaughtered in recent congressional contests.

You are such a tool Bobby. Your posts do nothing but confirm what you try so hard to deny. It isn't even a mystery what you post anymore. Obama can do no wrong, conservatives are stupid, and you hate Bush.

The idea that there are 50 states is so firmly implanted in my mind that I could no more misspeak about the number of states than I could misspeak about my age and be off by a decade.

@n2

Your typical post, republicans can do no wrong, liberals are stupid, you love Bush.

I know 70% of the public will agree with me on the last one of the three.

If I'm a tool I suspect I am the hammer hitting the nail right on the head.

Don't worry football season will start in another 3 months and you can lose yourself in Sooner euphoria.
