merrie says: Andrew Sullivan writes: "The last time a news event gave me chills like this was the Soviet coup. It ended the regime." Yes, it did. You know what this reminds me of? The convulsion that shook Ramadi, the capital of Anbar Province, Iraq. Hundreds of insurrection photos are uploaded right here on Twitter. Protests in Tehran, London, Sydney . . . . http://www.flickr.com/photos/mousavi1388/ They are mighty angry about the election results. Must be a scary time for them. There was film on the murder of one protester on the news. And the journalists are being ordered out of the country. How will Ahmadinejad explain this, I wonder. Thus far, he's responding like "Baghdad Bob" ------ describing the rioting as the excitement following a soccer game. hahaha. I'm laughing but still sad for them. sigh. It's no longer possible to claim the so-called "election" to be "fair" or the "theocracy" to be anything other than a totalitarian thugocracy. |
