How much heavier are you than your wife? Or when she lived but you is probably more apt!!! It's just my 'fantastic insight' that you credit me with type of question.

If a ten year old child hit you I suppose your belt him back with your best too. Maybe get your gun and blast him for good measure. After all he struck first.

Men should never hit a woman period!!!! But if a man hits a woman, she should be able to charge him, but the judge being Muslim, may send her to jail. So yes, maybe she should hit back, but would be scared to with good reason. This fatwah isn't even a bandaide for their problems of spousal abuse. In some ways everything Muslim seems backwards. Why do Muslim men need control over every aspect of their life. I know I seem to be painting them all with the same brush which is wrong, but for the sake of arguement I am generalizing.
