Djiezes says: It is a sign of our times that the scientific critique of polygraph testing has gained almost no traction on government policy. To the contrary, the use of the polygraph to perform the sort of screening that Lykken termed a "menace in American life" is actually on the rise.If you're interested, check out the Use of Polygraph Examinations in the Department of Justice Report (pdf; dd September 2006); a +150page report on the governmental use of polygraphs in the US. I completely agree. A good example would be a person with a anxiety disorder who hyper-reacts to stressful questions. I've often wondered how I would do if I were ever to be polygraphed. I have a problem with thinking people won't believe me and therefore get really nervous when asked 90+% of questions. I'm not sure why since I really don't care if they believe me or not, but I still get nervous for some reason... We don't believe you Derek LOL |
