Great in theory - but why didnt Nintendo let the DS emulate these old classics? You could fit stacks of roms (legally) on a DS cartridge and the hardware could certainly handle it. Instead they rely on third party manufacturers to fill this niche with goods of dubious quality and dubious legality.

Homebrew all the way....plus you can include your own features such as mp3 or video playback....

True - there is always the homebrew option available.

The article just prompted me to consider why Nintendo didn't really take the full opportunity to capitalise on the retro gaming potential. Seems logical to me .. and Nintendo are always tipping their hat to retro via remakes. Maybe they think we wont buy New Super Mario Bros if the original is available??

New Super Mario Bros is awesome!! As much as I love Super Mario 3, NSMB knocks it off as my number 1 fav...
