β€œAll parties involved in the Darfur conflict β€” whether they are
referred to as 'Arab' or as 'African' β€” are equally indigenous and
equally black. All are Muslims and all are local.” The so-called Arabs
of Darfur are Africans who speak Arabic. The real roots of combat are
not racial or ethnic but political and economic.

I'm all for ending the violence and suffering in Darfur, but I'm not sure that I agree with all the statements in this article. It certainly provides an interesting take on the situation, one that bears consideration. I will have to give this more thought.

The title "socialism" might give us a hint.

Who is going to be the world's police/army? The UN was originally instituted to deal with situations like this, but they are corrupt and feed/benefit from an opportunistic standpoint. The UN's *military* force is a joke because it is as corrupt as the institution itself...with it's bribing, murdering, raping, etc...

A country's only hope, such as this ones, is a Western alliance of nations who genuinely care about the people within these countries....humanitarian insertion of a military force committed to destroying the dictatorial and terrorist forces. Uhhhhh...they, then, get in trouble and are called "imperialist" when they try.

I'm skeptical, but for another perspective, see this clip.
