Djiezes says: $1.49 for an album. That's a step in the good direction. Anyone know anyone (that knows anyone?) with a LaLa.com invite? Pretty please? $1.49 per album? that's just so unfair to musicians. I heard that there's a DVD trading service, peerflix, that works on a similar model. Are these businesses working? Frankly I don't see the appeal, as I don't have many CDs or DVDs that I would want to get rid of, and those that I do probably no one else would want. dfiskey - why is that unfair? The musicians are getting more then the record companies pay them. Also since people are trading CD's it is better then the file sharing, etc. I agree musicians deserve compensation for their work. I 100% disagree that record labels and record execs should get anything more than 1-2%. The record companies and execs are the reaons music costs too much and that the stars do not get paid more. I long for day that the middleman/woman is gone from the picture and the musicians get money directly from the fans - it is getting there, but it will still take a while. I've been using LaLa for more than a month now and I am so happy with it! The AJAX interface is incredibly appealing and the founders are very responsive to feedback and committed to making it work. Even in beta, they've created a great, low-friction, interactive community. Imagine a cocktail party where everyone's musical library is immediately browseable...instant conversation material! I've finally been granted a few invites to the site. Drop me a line if you collect CDs and are interested in joining... |
