Copyright law is not the same (or nowhere near) the same as Patent law. Whomever wrote this bit needs to do better research. And patent law cannot protect against 'existing art'. That means my genes predate the application of the so-called patent (which was not even referenced in the article). What the patent covers is their explicit works or engineered gene structures. And patents expire after 20 years anyways. -Someone needs to switch to decaf, pronto! |
