It's sad, but not all that surprising. Though we all aspire to judge people without letting looks matter, it's often the case that they do.

Both my girls are and always will be beautiful in my eyes. I don't care what researchers say. I love both my girls unconditionally.

My daughter was born with tons of very, very dark hair, big brown eyes and looked like a pinched up, red-faced monkey. I thought she was darling. Now she too lovely!!!

First-born son was balded as an egg with a round head that looked like it was atop a golf tee and huge blue eyes. I thought he was funny looking and the most wonderful thing ever to draw a breath.

If a "mother's love" is based on appearance...it ain't "mother's love.

Unfortunately that's how my mother based her love. My sister was blond and blue eyed. Everybodies little darling. Me, brown hair, hazel eyes, olive skin tones. Poor poor pitiful me. At least that how my mom saw me.

I'm sorry tan. Was that how she *really* perceived you or your impression? I know that I never felt loved...not in the way we (in our current culture) understand it now but how some in that era dealt with their children. It's still difficult but I know that my parents could not show love because that was how they, themselves, were raised. It didn't have anything to do with appearances though...I don't think.

Just a thought...and one I've been dealing with for a looooooooooong time. :~) so a tad bit of understanding.

Take it from a blue eyed fair skinned blond (or whatever shade) Tany. Brown hair, hazel eyes and olive skin tones are highly under rated.

Don't get me wrong, I'm satisfied with the way I look. But growing up it was a fact that my sister is was and still is the favourite. I spoiled her too. It did hurt that I know I wasn't treated fairly. But I'm an adult now it really doesn't matter anymore.
