Don't underdress it either though. And include some cheese and pine nuts...that's my salad advice for the day Fresh mushrooms Cherry Tomatoes Mini Broccoli flowerettes Califlower Croutons (To soak up the sauce) Black olives Banana peppers Bacon Bits Ham Chunks Steak Chunks Chicken/Turkey chunks Boiled eggs Fresh herbs in a salad is really nice too. I hate a wet salad. I'd rather have no dressing at all than too much. I love cheese on mine too; especially thin slivers of swiss. I'm old and I just discovered that I like fresh spinach! :~) We have a local restaurant that makes the best salad dressing. I don't mind too much of it because it is why I buy their salads. I could lick the plate. I have begged the owner to bottle the stuff so I could buy it, but she said then I wouldn't come and eat their salad. (She's right.) Has anyone else observed that one day you can make a salad and it tastes wonderful; then, using the same ingredients...phooey, it turns out blah. I'd rather have no dressing at all than too much.I'm with you on that. Less is more.I also do not like the packaged bacon bits and croutons. I love them freshly made and less is more for these too. |
