rpassman says: Time for me to move on a bit. I have said all I want to say about gun control for a while. In this post I turn to an even more frightening example of the greed of the global capitalists, the engineering of the food supply. Genetic engineering and the food additive industries are currently nearly free to do as they wish with and to the food supply. The FDA has been traditionally slow to respond to problems in the food supply and tends to be overwhelmed in the exercise of their regulatory and inspection functions, mainly because the agency is underfunded and cannot adequately staff to fulfill its Congressional mandates. There are significant unknown dangers in both producing and eating genetically engineered foods. For example see Genetically Engineered Foods by Ronnie Cummins, Ben Lillston and Frances Moore Lappe who discuss the business of genetic engineering. I That's what happens when you outsource everything in the market to CHINA. At least in the U.S. you have some degree of control and inspection because it is within the U.S. and subject to inspection. Good luck with that over there. People sold this country out LONG ago, for the almighty dollar, and now it's coming back to bite them. Many products made in China are sub-standard, unsafe and made by what amounts to forced labor. The companies who buy stuff from overseas (at a much lower cost) are to blame. Cheaper is not better, and it's not even cheaper, in the long run. As hundreds of pet owners are just finding out. I didn't know the source of the problem was China. They haven't mentioned that in the South African press But many animals have died here too. The REAL Napster - thank you. |
