What evidence do you have that the arctic is 1 degree cooler than it was in the 1940s? The evidence that it is warming is pretty complete - a recent NASA study shows that arctic sea ice is decreasing at 9 percent per decade when measured over the the entire area since the 1980s. Photos of Glacier National Monument from the 1940s show that the glaciers for which it was named are dramatically smaller than they are now.

In general it is getting harder to find a scientist that denies that global warming is happening - the argument now is whether it is natural or man-made.
