What a cool experiment! But might not this experiment be the wrong one to test this feeling? I was thinking the same thing, righthand. I couldn't help but wonder if the fore-knowledge of a safe landing somehow affected the perceptions, or rather didn't allow the phenomenon to manifest. I have to say, after being in a bad car accident years ago, your perception of everything does slow down. I can remember the car approaching me and my efforts to avoid it. It was like trying to move in a jar of treacle, whilst your mind worked at lightning speeds. After the impact everything returned to normal, the sense of smell, sound, feeling. Those seconds before the other car hit me seemed like an eternity. I did 290 degrees in a car at 60 mph once and was more relaxed and happy as i flew through the air than i have ever been! Time not so much slowed down as ceased to exist. Scary fun, not recommended. Also, I have had several episodes of 'frozen time' when it felt subjectively that the same moment was being repeated indefinitely, sort of chronic deja vu. |
