AtlLiberal says: Once again we're presented with examples of outright bigoted prejudice. Perhaps not surprising if it was put forth from a stereotypical Nascar dad but from a contender to the presidency it seems a bit out of line. Maybe the presidency should be also be limited only to those born here. (McCain was not.) If we could even get as far as limiting it to sane individuals, we be further ahead of the game than we are right now. But who would qualify? Aces; I thought you had to be born in the US already if you want to run for President, .I also heard they're trying to get it changed because Arnold S. in Calif. can't run as of now because of that. Maybe to run for political office they should be tested to see if they actually have a functioning brain or make sure they haven't lost their minds. McCain seems to lack one and lost the other. I truly feel sorry for the Americans the choices they have running for President. Good luck, you and the rest of the world are going to need it. i think presidency should be limited only to A human. possible criteria can be: A Human with a vision (derived from above the current forces at play) A Human with a clear mind (beyond personal biases) A Human with an insight in his/her eyes (leading the human race, not only Americans-), from being a surviving creature fighting on resources, towards becoming a conscious being co-operatively utilizing resources for a global benefit). any other criteria .... ?? and .. another criterion (preferred but optional-)) : A Human that is a thinking person.. as Quoted from Einstein: I am a deeply religious non-believer. This is somewhat new kind of religion. I don't try to imagine a personal God; it suffices to stand in awe at the structure of the world, insofar as it allows ourinadequate senses to appreciate it. I have never imputed to Nature a purpose or a goal, or anything that could be understood as anthropomorphic. What i see in Nature is a magnificent structure that we can comprehend only very imperfectly, and that must fill a thinking person with a feeling of humility. This is a genuinely religious feeling that has nothing to do ... @tanyamm Aces; I thought you had to be born in the US already if you want to run for President,This is true. Re: McCain, see article in the New York Times (here's a small snippet). "Mr. McCain’s likely nomination as the Republican candidate for president and the happenstance of his birth in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936 are reviving a musty debate that has surfaced periodically since the founders first set quill to parchment and declared that only a “natural-born citizen” can hold the nation’s highest office." McCain is not a natural born citizen. |
