Rustee says: There's not a more deserving warrior patriot. I read of his courage under fire as written by the survivor mentioned, his fellow SEAL and best friend, Marcus Luttrell, in his book Lone Survivor. They were all incredible men, thus it was an incredible loss. POPPED Because the anti-war crowd WON'T. Indeed. I hope they prove you wrong. This story should be, not celebrated, but revered and remembered. The least we could do is take a minute out of our lives and learn about him. You'll end up shedding a tear for him, and his fallen comrades. Yes, some pop for a totally immature and wrong reasons. And then has the stupidly to advertise it. TG, it's only the one that insists in continuously putting his foot all the way into his big mouth. Clippers should pop because it's a good clip, not out of childish spite or trying to curry favour when one has lost all credibility. Good clip, Rustee. Bush Family Connections I am popping for this soldier to. But I find it a shame that it took this long for this administration to finally award this man. It smacks of politics to do that. Yes, I read the book, by the guy now nicknamed "The One", AND I also have read the MANY articles and comments by the family of Michael Murphy who feel betrayed and that their son's memory is actually tarnished by the book, have you read this? A lot of conflict there. I believe Michael Murphy to be a HERO, and a LEADER, the book would have you doubt his leadership qualities, as well as the statement in it 'It was the stupidest, most Southern-fried, lame-brained decision I ever made in my life to vote to let them go. I must have been out of my mind. I'd actually cast a vote which I knew would sign our death warrant ... I turned into a 'f*#king' liberal ... a no-logic nitwit, all heart, no brai... righthand:Yep. sahara:Personally I didn't get that impression at all, rather the total opposite. And yes, some of his family don't think the book portrays the Mike they knew. But in the book Marcus also discusses how they see sides of their teammates famliy and friends never see. And he admits to sugar-coating his version to the grief-stricken parents...this is nothing new in warfare, and arguably the right thing to do at times. I wouldn't know...thankfully I've never had to do it. That southern-fried, lame brained quote is the most quoted line in the bo... I first became interested in the book from the reviews and write ups at www.socnetcentral.com, of course every one on there LOVED it and I thought I would too, for the most part I did, and I could definately see how most of them would. But I will say, I had heard his father, prior to my reading it, and I know doubt read it looking at it from that perspective, it influenced my interpretation I am certain, but that was how I saw it. no doubt, I make many typos! By the way, please do not clip from the above mentioned site (it's a respect thing), if you know what I mean... Update: the family has now received the medal. The Yahoo article about the ceremony managed to be one of Yahoo's top stories for awhile today. Lt. Michael Murphy is above and beyond ordinary hero's His legend will survive and other's will revere his memory Dietz, Axelson and Luttrell were awarded the Navy Cross, a combat valor medal second only to the Medal of Honor. Murphy earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart, and is being considered for the Navy Cross, and possibly the Medal of Honor. |
