You know I hate to admit it, but it's true. Obama may be a "rock star" (although he's no Jim Morrison) and he may be a great guy (although he's no Bobby Kennedy) I have to agree: on the hard issues, he hasn't shown us that he has what it takes. This was exactly the failure of Royale (Sego) in France.

The sad thing is that, although it took me years of college and field research to do it the hard way, I estimate that with the resources of a national politician, and about $25,000,000 it would only take about three or four months of intensive study to come up to speed on the relevant facts of Islamic "terrorism" and the situation in Iraq, both military and civilian.

Why is it that I some how feel that quite a few of the people on Clipmarks are more qualified to lead the country than any of the people currently running? (Both left and right!) Come to think of it, why aren't any of you guys running? How long will it be before we get an erudite, informed and passionate leader?

The REAL Napster
Because the real leaders lead from the shadows and do not bask in the limelight. Their influence and knowledge guide the elected leader to success or failure. Leaders cannot know everything, that's what their cabinets and advisors are for... to steer the leader towards the intended goals. That's where the power is. Same way the Queen was always more powerful than the King. Just look at a chess board. ; )

That is certainly a critical breakdown. The last adviser to the President who I believe discharged his duties in good faith was Colin Powell. Unfortunately, he was a victim of a far more sinister political process. Those who remain think uncritically about themselves and their problems, only serving to reinforce the crisis in leadership.

But furthermore, those running for President seem equally uninformed. We need candidates who want to be informed, who hire advisers that break down the important situations for them. Its the investigative spirit that is lacking. They lack curiosity about the world around them, and simply look forward to standing atop it. They are so confident in their own o...

If you are looking for a candidate with significant international experience I would suggest Bill Richardson.

Although still way behind the three Democratic front runners he is picking up some steam. He is on everyone's short list for a VP candidate. If Obama were to be the one nominated it would serve him well to select Bill Richardson as a VP candidate. There is still a lot of time, Obama may end up Bill Richardson's VP candidate.

He will be on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Friday, March 11th.

Check out Bill Richardson's new ad emphasizing his international and executive experience. It's even kinda lighthearted and entertaining - Bill Richardson Link

Anyway I completely agree with your comments on Obama. I see virtually no difference on policy stands on issues between Hillary and him.

Eric, you've created a monster

BobbyRutan, you're completely right. I'm a Richardson man for sure. I was even a Richardson man back in 2004, when he wasn't even running.

To make the further case for Richardson, not only was he a successful Ambassador to the UN who has international respect, and credit with some very dificult countries, more importantly, he is also a former Governor.

When will people finally learn that you don't get elected to the Presidency from the Senate? The overwhelming majority of Presidential winners are either "incumbent" vice presidents, or former governors. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time a Senator was elected it was Kennedy, and he'd only served for a couple of years.

Senators gene...

I was kidding anyway ouyangwulong, if there's anyone the Constitution should be amended for it's Arnold!

Here's Arnold's problem: he's a movie stars. Movie stars can be kind of funny. Regan was a movie star. He played the Gipper. It is unclear to what extent he actually thought he was the Gipper. This isn't really a problem because nobody would argue with the Gipper as a national leader.

On the other hand, Arnold has been Conan the Barbarian and the Terminator. That wouldn't bode well for his foreign policy intiatives.

On the other hand, if he had called his first campaign (to replace Gray Davis) "Total Recall," he would have my eternal vote for anything. (Don't worry, my district is gerrymandered anyway.)

For those of you who are counting, that was actually three hands in my last comment. When I find out who the extra hand belonged to, I should say thank you.

I probably should get more sleep.
