Overtaking Somalia in itself is not the main problem except that that establishes their effort exponentially.

The U.S. just has the main job of standing up for the little guys (smaller "Western" countries) who don't have the voice. But - believe it - we speak for them!

The efforts of U.S. university staff members in the 50's and 60's who built Ethiopia's university and agricultural extension cooperative system have done more to ensure that Ethiopia has remained an ally of the U.S. then did any of Bush's military ventures in the region. Bush will only bring destabilization and death to the region. What we need are true statesmen who can bring opposing sides together to work out their deferences amicably instead of through the barrel of a gun.
