Mohir says:
In conventional internal combustion engines, multiple pistons are connected via rods to a crankshaft that, via the transmission, drives the wheels. Free-piston engines do away with the crankshaft: the pistons aren't connected to anything. Instead, two opposing pistons just shuttle back and forth inside a chamber. To generate electricity, the pistons could be equipped with rows of magnets that shuttle past metal coils to create an electrical current.

Another great clip ' a treasure"that is educational makes up for worry about posting something of ethical importance in case one upsets the 'Free-world leaders" editorship and one is barred from site by a Napst.r or Goldst..ns self-centered views in-case one says fuck far out.Self editing is same situation in China or Russia the international input should be encouraged as what happens in US affects planet.Great clip wish I had ability to build such an engine.Politics of copy-right aside. The internet is mans self education tool.

Basically just another generator, the product of which has to be utilised by electric motors to drive the vehicle.

The main advantage of course would be to eliminate the need to carry expensive or heavy fuel cells/batteries

That's a two stroke engine and would require an oil/fuel mix and more air polluting emissions.
